Based on the complete collection of Maurice Ravel’s Ma mère l’Oye, this project presents five stories, between the obvious simplicity of the tale and the whole background of signs and clues linked to the depths of the unconscious, like a series of dreams the deciphering of which would reveal the rigorous line of an initiation rite: the lethargic state of a woman-child not yet symbolically separated from her mother, the labyrinths leading to this separation, the discovery of otherness, the journey to a distant land and self-discovery, the attainment of wisdom through knowledge of the world and the acceptance of death. The two parts presented here, the first and the last, give a good idea of what the journey might be like.
Recordings, audio extracts: numerous CDs, including “Transcriptions 2”, Accentus (Laurence Equibey), Naïve. These two transcriptions have been performed by numerous choirs all over the world.
The remaining three movements are in preparation for the end of 2022.
